Current practices and future directions in Sustainable Development Goal 4 through intercultural competence in general English program curricula
This article explores current practices and future directions related to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) through the integration of intercultural competence in general English program curricula. It highlights the growing importance of inclusive and equitable quality education, emphasizing intercultural competence as a key component for effective cross-cultural communication and global citizenship.
The study reviews how intercultural competence is currently embedded in higher education English curricula both globally and in Vietnam, identifies challenges and barriers to its implementation, and provides recommendations for curriculum development. The findings suggest that strengthening intercultural competence in English programs can better prepare learners for the demands of an increasingly interconnected world and contribute to achieving SDG4.
